In 1947 the club started the Bluebird Trail Program to encourage mountain bluebirds to nest in the area (initially spearheaded by Earl Erickson and Harry Scheideman). Currently we care for more than 1200 bluebird houses on 220 miles of road allowances. The club also builds bird houses for area residents to put up. As well, members go to schools in Parkland County and present workshops. Students in grades 1 and 2 assemble 20 to 80 pre-cut boxes per school, often with the help of junior high school students. The students and their parents put up and maintain the boxes.
